The Switchback Gear Exchange helps adventurers refine their gear and technical apparel collections while making outdoor exploration accessible and affordable for our community.

Bring Your Gear:

The Switchback Gear Exchange is built on your quality gear. With limited space, we focus on items that best serve our community of adventurers. Review our detailed guidelines of accepted gear types and brands before bringing items in.

We generally accept: 

• Recent, functional, undamaged, clean, and odor-free outdoor gear and technical apparel

• Items that are locally relevant and appropriate for current outdoor use

We generally do not accept: 

• Outdated, broken, or dirty items

• Fast-fashion or discount-store items

• Ski or snowboarding equipment (an insurance exclusion)

• Large, hard-to-store items (kayaks, bikes, cargo boxes)

Get Paid:

The Scenic Route - Consignment

• Earn 70%* of the final selling price in store credit

• Credit issued 8 days after sale to allow 7 day customer return window

The Direct Route - Instant Credit

• Earn 40%** of the assigned selling price in store credit

• Credit issued after inspection and pricing is complete

The Social Route - Donate Your Payout

• Donate your consignment payout (70%* of the final selling price)

• Proceeds will be used to provide gear for Mariposa Elementary School’s 8th Grade Yosemite Trip

Upgrade Your Gear: 

• Store credit can be used for anything we sell in store: new gear, used gear or local art

• Store credit can be applied to special orders from the full catalogs of our brand partners

• Store credit can be converted to cash using this exchange rate: $1.00 Store Credit = $0.80 Cash
